The Way Greece was Viewed

When it came to what you thought of Greece during this time period everyone had a different opinion and view on the situation.  Even the Greek citizen’s opinions varied depending on their class status.  The higher classes viewed Greece as a place that had taken a harsh blow and hadn’t recovered yet.  Others thought that the modern Greece was a disgrace to the great minds who influenced its creation.  The only social class that seemed to have the same view on Greece were the peasants.  They for the most part all thought that Greece was a place full of riches and they were there for the taking as long as they worked together.
Moving on to the Turks and The Ottoman Empire  the view does not shift as dramatically as one would expect.  The Turks viewed the Greeks almost the same as the higher class Greek citizens only with a little more hate.  The turks thought the Greeks were wealthy pigs who were a disgrace to the arts.  The Turks believed it was time to swoop in take over and liberate Greece to clean up the place.  TheTurks on the other hand saw themselves as better than the Greeks ,but from these documents it seems as though they didn’t have much room to talk.
Countries on the outside saw this tension between Greece and The Ottoman Empire in a much simpler way.  Countries like France and Germany just saw Greece as a place to liberate or take over.  Greece treated any guest from foreign lands as great friends.  The Greeks enjoyed the company of them and liked their ways.  The French men that the Greeks loved though thought that Greece should be sacrificed though for the great good.
You either loved or hated the Greeks but unfortunately in this time period there was more hate then love.
